PATRA L1 and L2 Adjustment Norms

During a transformation with identical points, the transformation parameters are defined in such a manner, that a pre-defined function of the misclosures at all identical points will be minimised. The following functions have been implemented in PATRA:

• During an L1 Adjustment the absolute sum of all misclosures is minimised. This is a robust method, ideally used in the search for gross observation errors.
• During an L2 Adjustment the square sum of all misclosures is minimised. This is the standard method according to Gauss-Markov.
